ASSESSMENT ABOUT HOW USEFUL THE TVYL PRACTICE

TVYL is an excellent practice for me as future teacher because I can put into practice what I learned in class. During the time, I was teaching at kindergarten, I could realize that the best way to enroll in the world of teaching is at a kindergarten because it is there where I can become a real teacher. I will always hold that experience in my heart because from that experience I learned many things that later on I will incorporate to my own teaching. TVYL is not an easy task, future teachers must take into consideration that children are hyperactive, talkative, and naughty besides that, they are affectionate, loyal, critical and friendly. But once you are teaching them you become their hero. I taught an introductory course so, children did not know any word in English and I feel really happy every time I see my students on the street because they recognize me and they call me teacher. That is the best feeling that I ever feel because I know that at least they learned a little bit from me.
In my way to become an ELT teacher, I swear that teaching children has been one the most important challenges that I have taken. Now that I have that experience, I can understand many things of the process of teaching and learning. I know what the role of a teacher is and also, I know what the role of a student is. Students are the center of the education; they play the most important role because without them, teachers would not exist. When I started my practicum at kindergarten, I did not know anything about methods, techniques, lesson plans among others. But, now I can say that TVYL is and was really useful for me because now I have more knowledge about children and teaching (all that implies teaching). Personally, I guess that after having practice with children, I am able to teach in other levels.

The presentation were very useful for me because I learned how I can do a good job in my classmates. I used some different methods to teach to children that I considered, were the best. Teaching English to Children shows me why I had to plan my class and what the main purpose to do it are. The book was created like a guide for beginner teachers in order to help us to improve our teaching for pupils. It's important to say that this book shows us real experiences or situations from other teachers around the world, in order to make us easier the class management. Besides, the book shows many children activities, and some examples that show me how I could make my class interesting and dynamic in order to motivate ESL students.
On the other hand, ESL consists of learning English in a country where it is the native language. During this semester, I had the opportunity to teach English in the kindergarten. With this experience, I asked myself some important questions about what kind of classroom manager do I want to be? What kind of teacher do pupils think you should be? And how can I develop a positive classroom atmosphere? These questions helped me a lot in my teaching practice because it was my first experience at teaching English.

The observation I did during two weeks, the TVYL presentations, and the weeks of preparation in the classes of Didactics of the English Language I, provides me the basis for me to start introducing K5 level students a Foreign Language. At the beginning, teaching was not easy because this a task that requires people to have a vast knowledge about how to deal with children, but as I had already had some experience dealing with children, I tried to associate my actual knowledge, my observation at the kindergarten and the students routine to create my type of teaching. Nowadays, teaching has become totally part of me; as a result, I do not see my teaching as an obligation, but as something that I really enjoy doing. When I arrive school and my students greet me with the greetings I teach them in the first class, I feel so good because I can realized that they are interested in my classes and that learning a Foreign Language is easy if someone does it with love. So, I think that this experience will motivate me to become a better teacher and to learn many things from everybody because my students’ teacher becomes my student, too.

The TVYL practice was something really necessary for me in order to become a ELT because through that practice me as student teachers learned a lot of things for example how to deal with children, how to apply the best desk arrangement, how to create a good atmosphere, how to manage the time established, how to make rapport exists in classes and so on. In our opinion the TVYL practice was my base for being teachers.
I learned a lot from children for example how to treat each kid because each one was pretty different from the other one. In addition, I experimented how the most sincere love that can exist because children were very spontaneous, and I could realize about that when I arrived to the school I was attending for teaching, and those kids ran for me very time they saw me in the school. I learned to love them for the way each one was no matter how bad or hyperactive they acted in classes. I don’t have enough words to express all the things I faced through that experience; some were really nice while some others were not that nice, but I have to admit that I really enjoyed being there teaching children. It helped me a lot not only at getting experience, but also at forging our character.
Now I’m able to create lesson plans in such a way that we will reach the entire objective that have to be reached. However, I don’t have plenty of experience for being teachers, but it is something that I will get through more practice. That experience of TVYL that I have is something that will never happen again. In other to become a ELT teacher the TVYL practice was a big help since I have the bases for being an ELT teacher, I feel happy with the knowledge that I reach through the experience of being TVYL.

TVYL opens a new sort of recourses that we can use and apply in the kindergarten classroom. Now I know what kind of tools to use in the classroom, so I get some ideas about the desk arrangements that are more suitable for specific activities. Besides these, I understood how I can teach writing, reading, listening and speaking topics to our pupil (based on the book). Likewise, I learned how to plan my classes and how to choose the right topic based on the interest of my pupils and how to deal with classroom management problems. To become an ELT teacher is not easy, but trying to acquire a new language and then teach that to young children or to elder people is one of the best experience that Non-Nest teachers can have. All these elements of the TVYL practice make my teaching more effective and easy to apply at the moment of being in the classroom.
